Chamber of Commerce's health care lies

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 11:35 AM PST

On Friday, I saw a stunning and perplexing ad against health care reform paid for by the US Chamber of Commerce. The ad was stunning for the breadth of the chasm between it and the truth, and perplexing because serious health care reform is in the interest of US businesses, which the Chamber purportedly represents. More on that in a moment; first I'll debunk the untruths in the ad. Lie #1) The ad claims health care costs to families will go up. In fact they will go down. This is so obvious that anyone who's read the first thing about the House and Senate bills should not be fooled by the Cha

Cenk Uygur: Why I Changed My Mind on Afghanistan

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 03:43 AM PST

Until about a month ago, I agreed with Barack Obama's strategy in Afghanistan. I thought we should have concentrated on Afghanistan from the beginning. We should have brought in so many more troops. We owed it to the Afghan people to do the best we could for them since we happened to invade their country. I think the Taliban is the scourge of the earth, and the idea that they might take over after we leave is abhorrent to me. We had to stay and get it right. So, what happened? The Afghan elections. Over one million votes were fraudulent. 1.3 million fake votes were thrown out to be exact.

Saving Is Something You Should Do Every Day

Another recycled article, with the added 55 saves gas thing. I encourage the author to drive 55, see how he likes losing an hour a day in travel time and eventually getting rear ended.

White House party crashers are winners!

Tareq and Michaele Salahi, America's newest anti-celebrities. Congratulations on making humanity look like chumps. The game is over, folks… and Michaele and Tareq Salahi have bested us. They win. Who did they beat? They beat all of us: the mainstream media; the White House; the gossip rags; the TV audience; humanity… But they got caught crashing a state dinner at the White House. They're now known as impersonators, classless social climbers, blatant fame whores and, possibly, criminals… how is that winning? A week after crashing the White House dinner, we're not only still talking about t

PRUDEN: More Dr. Bureaucrat horrors

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 03:46 AM PST

OPINION/ANALYSIS: A liberal mistrusts lessons bought with experience. For him, theory is all. He's the only man who would sit down on a red-hot stove twice. That makes well-meaning Democrats marks for shysters selling health-care "reform," global warming and appeasement of radical Islamists. We're not supposed to ask why so many Canadians, pleased and proud of their cradle-to-grave nanny care, try to get to the United States when they get really sick. We're not supposed to examine Britain's National Health Service, which in theory stands ready to cure everything from hickies and noogies to hea
